This course will provide examples of business models and an introduction of the most used models for social entrepreneurship, a new economic model that is the future. 

The course is open to persons from various backgrounds seeking to learn about business models related to the economic (commercial) and social side of the business.

The course provides participants with an overview of the business models used by social entrepreneurs and enterprises. This course will provide examples of business models and an introduction of the most used models for social entrepreneurship, a new economic model that is the future.

The course has divided into two modules: Economic and Social Business Models and Combining Business Models

Module 1, Economic and Social Business Models, covers the following topics: 

  • What is a Business Model
  • Economically Viable Business Model
  • Socially Viable Business Model


Module 2
, Combining Business Models, covers the following topics:

  • What is the Purpose of Combining Business Models
  • How to Combine Business Models
  • The Potential of Combining Business Models

Applying knowledge and understanding 

Upon completion of this course, participants will: 

  • Acquire knowledge on what is a business model;
  • Acquire knowledge on the variety of business models;
  • Acquire knowledge on what is an economic business model;
  • Acquire knowledge on what is a social business model;
  • Acquire knowledge on what is the purpose of combining business models;
  • Acquire knowledge on how to combine multiple business models;
  • Acquire knowledge on the potential of combining multiple business models.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 

  • Adopt and/or Improve a business model;
  • Combine business models;
  • Increase their profit.

Forms of examination include

Module 1: Economic and Social Business Models

  • Written exercise. This includes presenting the findings at a seminar. Grade: fail/pass


Module 2: Combining Business Models

  • Written exercise. This includes presenting the findings at a seminar. Grade: fail/pass

Teaching methods include lectures, guest lectures, seminars and casework.

Depending on the course level, literature in the form of contemporary articles for specific course occasions will be added, as well as other literature in consultation with the course coordinator.

Each module in the course will be evaluated separately upon completion. This provides periodic feedback on course development. The course as a whole will also be evaluated upon completion. A summary of results will be kept in the Academy’s archive.
